Crooked Knife
Crooked Knife
The crooked knife is a North American indigenous wood carving tool used across the continent, with different versions of it appearing throughout the world. Held with one hand and pulled towards the user, it is the perfect portable tool for making larger wooden objects - birch bark canoes, paddles, snowshoes, basket rims, ax handles, lacrosse sticks, wild ricing gear, and more. 1095 steel mounted in a curly maple handle, with a leather sheath.
When ordering, please specify left or right handed, and the approximate size of the glove you wear (S/M/L/XL). I try to make different size handles to accommodate a range of hand sizes.
For sharpening please consider getting one of my round ceramic sharpening rods for $5. They leave a fine finish and are all that I use. If the blade gets exceptionally dull, wrap the rod in 600 grit sandpaper and get in back in shape (or 400 grit if really dull or chipped), then finish with the rod.
