Frost & Smoothing Scraper

The frost scraper is the same design as the dry scraper with one change - the curve to the sharp edge is a flatter radius, meaning it will take a wider shaving when used (see pic, blade on the right). Frost scraping in very cold temperatures is much easier than dry scraping, and the frozen hide dulls the tool much less, so you can scrape effectively for longer periods between sharpening. The Frost Scraper takes advantage of this method. The flatter curve to the edge also works well when regular dry scraping to smooth out any scraping lines at the end. I use it in conjunction with my regular scraper all the time - dehair and aggressively thin with the regular Dry Scraper, then switch to the Frost Scraper (even with a dry hide) at the end to smooth out scraping lines and leave a perfect finish.  Precision ground high wear tool steel professionally hardened and tempered for maximum edge holding while retaining sharpenability.
